Lead by example. Heart break last week but the support he got today was amazing. Proper West Ham United.

Re: The Skipper
O'Brian was responsible for their goal tbh.

Noble had a fine game, as he often does but merely becasue he doesn't necessarily do "driving runs" he's generally overlooked by adrenalin junkies.

Re: The Skipper
Well according to Savage countless times on the radio last season, it was all effective, best man for the job, blah, blah, blah.

So not quite sure what the purpose of his table was tbh.

And yeah, very good performance from Noble yesterday.

Re: The Skipper
DJH, that's fair enough. I think we'll have to agree to disagree mate and I see him as our engine room.

As the season progresses and if Nolan features less, then we'll see how he performans without his shackle.

Overall, we both want the same thing and we'd both be very happy if Noble does produce the goods for us.

fuck me one good game against a poor Palace team who were content to sit back and he's fucking Pirlo. We've been to used to midfeild medioracrity.

Savage- "I have produced a little graph here reference last season for West Ham.."

1. It was a table NOT a graph
2. Nobody on this planet would contemplate you having the ability to construct any form of data of this nature
3. You are an odious,cheating,homo-haired TWAT.

Re: The Skipper
Speaking of Savage.

I did like his little stats table. I hope the OAF was watching it. A shame they didn't highlight it more last season rather than now after a win.

That maybe so but it could equally argued other players sacrifice aspects of their game to compensate for Noble's lack of speed.
I like Noble but he simply wouldn't be seen in the same light had we paid £5m or so for him, for me that is why he is a fixture in the side no only is he an ok player but he can get away with mistakes that others would be crucified for whereas Mark will always get another chance with the fans.

Re: The Skipper
Agree with DJH. I like Noble and he has done well for us, bur unfortunately he is never going to be top drawer. For one, he is too slow both physically and mentally. The middle of the park is a very important position, if we really do have genuine ambitions then we need an uprgade on him at some point.

Hahaha so what you are saying is really you actually know Noble was to blame for them scoring.

It's a FACT

Re: The Skipper
DJH, having better players around you allows you to play 'your' game and less emphasis on covering mistake. In our case it's Noble looking after Nolan and his obvious flaws. Nolan is a Championship player who's prime left him a while ago.

Re: The Skipper
You just know as Robbie Savage was lauding the Noble/Zarate partnership last night there was supposedly west ham fans sitting there(as they do from comfort of settee and laptop most weeks)with bitterness seeping out of em.

I pretty much agree with the above

DJH 12:11 Sun Aug 24
Re: The Skipper
I don't get the argument that having better players around somehow justifies how good he is because that is almost stating the obvious for any number of average football players.

Mark Noble is bang average which for a lower table Premier League/Championship that we have been for most of his career has been about the right fit for both us and him.

The reality is that he has too many flaws to his game that he cannot address ever to make that next step which says a lot why he is still with us and if we really have serious ambitions about progressing he is an obvious player we need to upgrade if the funds are there to spend £10-15m next summer.

Re: The Skipper
He must have been close to 100 passes played yesterday? I will look up the stats later. Definitely the man with the ball the most in the game by a long distance.
As someone else said, you need that type of guy, to relax the side and retain possession in that position. He's vital for us.

The only area he lacks, is the speed to spot and release the ball, he's often caught dwelling, especially going forwards. If he could find the killer pass he'd be in the England team.

Also, it's extremely lazy to look at the final phase of play leading to the goal and blame Noble. Have a watch again, but actually observe how we lost it in the build up, and the team shape was pulled apart as a result of that.

It shows a real lack of understanding of the game to blame Noble because he's a defensive midfielder and a striker dropped into the hole.

Re: The Skipper
Its questionable whether he should be an automatic pick for the first team, especially at home against the lesser teams.

Re: The Skipper
still needs to stop driving in for the ball, too many fouls give in bad areas.

Re: The Skipper
Its all very well being great surrounded by great players. IMO, at his time at West Ham Noble has fought well in there surrounded by lesser players. With Kouyate and people around him actually making runs for him to pick out (Zarate), we could see him shine.
